David Yeh '94 Joins Irving Institute Advisory Board

The Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society at Dartmouth College is pleased to announce the newest member of its Advisory Board, David Yeh '94. Yeh, who double majored in biology and Asian studies at Dartmouth, is managing director at 3x5 Partners, a top quartile venture capital firm investing in health and environmental solutions. "We are very excited to have David Yeh come aboard," said Dr. Elizabeth Wilson, director of the Irving Institute and professor of environmental studies. "His perspective and experience will help us work together to create a world-class energy and society institute."

Yeh's career spans global finance, innovation, and the Obama White House. At the White House, he aided the administration's effort to grow impact investing including personally convening a $7 trillion event with the world's largest sovereign wealth funds to stimulate investment in the USA and helping run the world's largest sustainable infrastructure portfolio ($30 billion) that included some of the largest solar and wind power plants and Tesla. Prior to his presidential appointment, he was a multi-asset investor in Beijing, London, and New York.

Scott Fisher '93, TH'93, TU'98, chair of the Institute Advisory Board, said that the Board welcomes the wealth of experience and expertise Yeh brings to the mix. "We are excited to have David join the Advisory Board. He is a leader in the formulation of cutting-edge energy policy and in the evolution of the sustainable investing sector and his success in bringing people together with different backgrounds and perspectives will be an asset to the Institute's holistic approach to addressing society's most difficult energy challenges."

Yeh is looking forward to working on behalf of Dartmouth and the Irving Institute. "My four years at the Big Green set me on my path to be an environmentalist, public servant, and investor," he said. "I am honored to return 26 years later to help fight the existential challenge of our time, the climate crisis, by advancing affordable and sustainable energy for all."

David Yeh, who officially joined the board on July 1, 2020, spoke to students and recent graduates considering energy careers about his career path and the current energy career outlook on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 p.m. EDT as part of the Irving Institute's Alumni Sparks Energy Careers Conversation Series.
