Our Master of Energy Transition (MET) mentors are industry professionals from across the clean energy landscape, from corporate sustainability and finance to government, policy, and law; from engineering and manufacturing to entrepreneurship and consulting. Many mentors are Dartmouth alumni, and some are also members of the Irving Institute Advisory Board.

When you begin the program in the fall, you'll be thoughtfully matched with a mentor in alignment with your career interests and professional development goals. Throughout your studies, your mentor will offer one-on-one support and guidance.

Guest Speakers

Each year, the Irving Institute hosts a wide range of events featuring guest speakers and panelists working at the forefront of energy, climate, and sustainability. MET students have special opportunities for small-group sessions with these experts, where you can ask questions, share perspectives, and build relationships with leaders across sectors.

Tight-Knit Cohort & Far-Reaching Support

Fellow Graduate Students

You'll be a part of a supportive cohort of fellow MET students with diverse academic backgrounds spanning fields such as the humanities, engineering, law, economics, and environmental and earth sciences. Together, you'll attend classes, workshops, and co-curricular events that strengthen your skills and deepen your learning.

In addition to your MET cohort, you'll join the broader Dartmouth graduate student community. The Institute's central location on campus places you at the hub of interdisciplinary activity, with access to shared study spaces and cross-program collaboration.

"Every day, we witness the Earth's dire need for help–from hurricanes to wildfires, from droughts to rising seas. I chose Dartmouth because Dartmouth doesn't just acknowledge these headlines–Dartmouth empowers us to rewrite them. At Dartmouth, I am able to be a part of a cohort that believes in a cleaner, more resilient world, and we are not just dreaming of that future -- we are building it."

– Riley Roach, MET '26
