In her role as Irving Institute Senior Fellow, Honor Passow, PhD, PE, is strengthening the Institute's connections with electric utilities, public health, and healthcare. One recent focus is facilitating communication among the diverse stakeholders engaged in Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) on the electric grid.
Dr. Passow brings a rich and varied background to the role. She is also a Senior Lecturer at Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine. She has extensive experience designing and teaching in master's programs at Geisel both in-person and online and has worked as an engineer and instructor in engineering sciences. Additionally, she has practical experience from her involvement in her town's energy committee and transitioning her home to clean energy by enhancing efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
"For me," Dr. Passow shares, "it is a dream come true to do work that combines my lifelong passions: education and sustainability. It is a privilege to work with the dedicated team at the Irving Institute on the global challenge of decarbonizing to mitigate climate change. At Irving, I get the chance to apply systems thinking from my background in both engineering and curriculum design and my boots-on-the-ground experience of the messiness of doing the energy transition."
