Irving Institute Hosts Faculty Research Symposium

On November 5, 14 Dartmouth research teams gathered to present "lightning talks," five-minute presentations covering progress and findings on research projects funded by the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society.

The Irving Institute faculty seed grant program funds research and education projects focused on the energy challenges faced by society – and the societal challenges posed by energy.

Among the wide range of topics covered by the 2018-19 funded projects were biomass and forestry, energy and indigenous societies in the Americas, building an energy and environment focus into the Dartmouth chemistry curriculum, and the energy needs for a rural health and telemedicine project. The event gave faculty the chance to learn more about their colleagues' work and spark new opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in energy and society projects.
