The Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society proudly announces the appointment of five distinguished leaders to our Advisory Board. These new members bring a wealth of expertise and leadership to advance our mission of accelerating an affordable, reliable, and equitable clean energy transition for the benefit of society.
New Advisory Board Members
- Maurice ("Fitz") FitzMaurice TU'98: Fitz brings top-notch expertise in energy and finance, managing key energy portfolios at Fidelity Investments with experience across all major energy and power verticals. He also manages diversified equity funds at Fidelity and previously was Managing Director of Research, leading the firm's High-Income Research Group.
- John Laidlaw: As the Chief Legal Officer at Irving Oil and former partner at Cox & Palmer, John provides a wealth of leadership experience in navigating legal, regulatory, and strategic issues related to energy and society. John's community involvement is also extensive, including serving as chair of the Saint John area New Brunswick Provincial Mental Health Tribunal, the Centracare Foundation, and the Horizon Health Network.
- Elizabeth "Ellie" Mahoney Loughlin '89: Ellie transitions from the Dartmouth Board of Trustees, where she served as the liaison to the Irving Institute, to becoming a member of the Irving Institute Advisory Board. As liaison, Ellie was integral to the Irving Institute's growth and success. More broadly, Ellie has deep leadership experience in academia, including strategy formulation at the highest levels and co-leading Dartmouth's Call to Lead Campaign, which concluded in June 2023, raising nearly $3.8 billion.
- J. Andrew McAllister '87: Andrew is one of the United States' foremost energy policy makers, currently serving in his third term on the California Energy Commission. He brings over three decades of expertise in energy policy and innovation, focusing on critical areas such as buildings and industry decarbonization, energy efficiency, and grid modernization. Andrew also chairs the Western Interstate Energy Board and serves on the boards of the National Association of State Energy Officials, the Smart Electric Power Alliance, and Camp Kesem at UC Davis.
- Abhay N. Pande '89: Abhay brings deep international leadership experience in investment banking, strategy consulting, and private equity in the energy space across the U.S. and Asia. He currently serves as Managing Director at Princeton Capital Advisors, partner at Linnean Capital Management, and chairman of Ironmont Hydro, Ltd, a Singapore-based investment holding company, and formerly served as commissioner at PT Arkora Hydro.

Advisory Board's Role
The Advisory Board, which includes representatives from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, offers strategic guidance to the Irving Institute. With their leadership, the board plays a crucial role in connecting the Institute to a global network of stakeholders, thereby enriching our programming and providing students with exposure to real-world challenges and opportunities in the energy transition.
