The Irving Institute is excited to announce that we will be hosting our fourth annual New Energy Summer Summit on June 22-25, 2025! The mission of the New Energy Summer Summit is to increase the capacity of early-stage energy and climate researchers to accelerate transitions to equitable and sustainable energy systems and a healthy climate via interdisciplinary scholarship and collaboration.
Since 2022, the New Energy Summer Summits have hosted a total of 58 scholars from 41 universities inside and outside the US for three days of lightning talks, breakout groups, lectures, workshops, and networking. The 2025 New Energy Summer Summit will sustain the event's characteristic intimacy among a multidisciplinary cohort of early-career peers, while expanding opportunities for professional development and mentorship from senior scholars and practitioners.
A 2024 Summer Summit participant shared, "I left the summit feeling renewed and excited to continue in my work, and to continue collaborating with others from more technical fields. I think there are many kinds of change needed for a just energy transition and that these changes can come from many different directions. The summit gave me more insight as to how interdisciplinary collaboration can be mutually strengthening between folks working toward a shared end goal, with different focus areas and ideas of how to get there."
Applications for the 2025 New Energy Summer Summit are now open! Advanced PhD students, postdocs, or assistant professors focused on topics in energy and climate, with a strong interest in building their capacity for interdisciplinary collaboration are eligible to apply. Scholars from all disciplines–natural science, technology, humanities, art, health and medicine, social sciences, policy and law–and more are welcome and encouraged to apply!
The deadline for applications is March 17, 2025.
