The Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society is delighted to announce the addition of two energy leaders to the Institute's Advisory Board: Alex Figueroa TU'10 and Sarah Jewett '12, TH'13.
Alex is co-founder, owner, and former Chief Financial Officer of Verogy, a leading solar generation development, project financing, and services company with a large portfolio of solar generation assets throughout the United States. He was previously the Chief Financial Officer of Greenskies Renewable Energy. Prior to joining Greenskies, Alex spent nearly a decade at Goldman Sachs, where he managed investment portfolios for the firm's foundation, endowment, and ultra-high net worth clients. Alex has been actively involved at Tuck, as a guest lecturer, Renewable Energy Finance Practicum leader, mentor, and in several other capacities.
Sarah is Vice President of Strategy at Fervo Energy, the world's leading next-generation geothermal power developer. In this role, she runs multiple corporate functions including corporate strategy, policy and regulatory engagement, external affairs, people operations, and future business lines. Prior to joining Fervo, Sarah worked in corporate development and strategic initiatives for Select Energy Services. After graduating with her BE from Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering, she moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming where she joined Schlumberger's Field Engineer Training program and spent the next four years leading traveling hydraulic fracturing crews across the American West and Alaska. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
"We are very excited to welcome Sarah and Alex to the Irving Institute Advisory Board," stated Board Chair Scott Fisher '93, TH'93, TU'98. "Both are cutting-edge entrepreneurs in advancing the energy transition, and each brings a skill set that will be invaluable to the Institute's continued growth and its impact on Dartmouth's students and our world. Sarah provides a deep first-hand understanding of multiple corners of our energy systems, and she is a leader in pioneering and commercializing an innovative new approach to expand our world's ability to cost-effectively leverage our geothermal resources for a cleaner future. Alex brings powerful leadership in financing the energy transition, as a successful clean energy entrepreneur, and in working with students to train the next generation of leaders at the interface of energy and society."
In addition to welcoming Alex and Sarah to the Advisory Board, the Irving Institute extends deep gratitude to departing Advisory Board members J. Drake Hamilton and Robin Nunn for their years of service to and support of the Institute and Dartmouth College. As noted by Board Chair Fisher, "J. Drake Hamilton contributed great insights to the Institute regarding the formulation and implementation of energy policy. Her ability to convene people from multiple perspectives also has made a significant difference in building the 'big tent' that the Irving Institute provides for stakeholders to share different perspectives and develop solutions. And Robin Nunn's expertise in both integrating ESG priorities and ensuring an equitable energy transition has enriched our Institute's efficacy in its mission for our world. We will miss both J. and Robin on the Advisory Board, but we look forward to their continued contributions to the Institute's work."
