Essay: The People Have a Right to Climate Data

In a January 20, 2024 essay in the New York Times, Dartmouth Professor of Geography and Irving Institute Faculty Advisory Board member Justin Mankin argues that given the collective impacts on climate change, governments around the world must ensure that climate data is freely available and accessible to all.  "Global warming is a collective tragedy, and so its solutions, especially around information for adapting to the risks it portends, must be a public good," writes Mankin. "That is why governments must step up. People have a fundamental right to science."
