The Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its Advisory Board, Stina Brock '01, TH'02 and Michael Hafner '89, effective July 1, 2023.
Stina Brock leads Proterra's cloud-based software-as-a-service business, Valence, where she is focused on creating software solutions for commercial electric vehicle fleet customers for energy management and grid integration. Over the course of her career, she has served as head of North America for Electron, leading new market development in the US and Canada; senior director of global energy solutions at Sunverge Energy; product marketing activities lead at Primus Power, an energy storage startup based on advanced flow battery technology; and utility demand response operations manager with commercial and industrial customers at EnerNOC. She started her career at Accenture as a consultant in the technology sector. Brock has a BA in Engineering and Economics from Dartmouth, a BE from the Thayer School of Engineering, and an ME from the University of Washington in Electrical Power Engineering.
Michael Hafner has a long history in energy finance, playing leadership roles in the energy divisions at Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Swiss global investment bank and financial services firm UBS, and most recently the global financial advisory firm Greenhill & Co. Hafner has spent his career establishing high achieving, cross-border teams and executing multibillion-dollar capital raising and merger and acquisitions activities with both private sector and national oil companies. He majored in Economics and Government at Dartmouth and received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Scott Fisher '93, TH'93, TU'98, whose term as Chair of the Advisory Board was renewed, added, "Stina and Michael bring great experience and expertise to our Advisory Board in critical areas. Stina is a proven leader in electrification of the transportation sector and in modernizing our electric grids to facilitate the adoption of emerging distributed energy resources, providing significant economic and climate benefits for society. Michael brings world-class expertise in the global financial markets for energy investments, expertise that is critical to unlocking solutions to our world's energy issues. Both are already actively engaged in the Irving Institute's work, and we are excited to bring their talents to the Advisory Board."
Fisher also expressed appreciation for the service of two outgoing Advisory Board members, Granger Morgan and Stuart Cable '75, TU'76. "We are so grateful for Granger and Stuart for their numerous contributions as founding members of the Irving Institute Advisory Board. As one of the world's leading academics in the energy and climate space, Granger has played a formative role in identifying opportunities and shaping the direction of our Institute. Stuart also provided valuable strategic insights to our Institute, leveraging his corporate and board experience."
