Meet Our Interns: Ellery Curtis '22 and Sebastian Fernandez '24

The Irving Institute is excited to introduce our new Communications Interns! Ellery Curtis '22 and Sebastian Fernandez '24 will be working with us to help capture and share stories about Dartmouth's energy and society teaching, learning, and community.

Ellie, a government and environmental policy major from Waitsfield, VT, says: "What gives me hope is the increase in dialogue around the intersectionality of our energy, economic, and social systems. People in power are increasingly marrying the challenges of decarbonization with structural inequality, so I'm hopeful that the energy transition will force us to rebuild our conceptions of justice in the same way that it will force us to rebuild our built environment." You can read about Ellie's summer energy internship experiences here.

Sebastian, a history and Chinese language major from West Palm Beach, Florida is "excited about the opportunity to work with the Irving Institute and help connect the work of the Institute with the student body." Sebastian says that he is "fascinated by the ubiquitous role energy plays in the lives of people across continents and eras, and how we can find common problems and solutions together. While the energy sector has several challenges to overcome, I am hopeful about the power of generational change to help solve the problem for good." Sebastian's story about fellow '24 Rohit Garimella's summer internship experience at FERC is published here.

Welcome, Ellie and Sebastian!
