Student Energy: Dartmouth Energy Alliance Plans a Fall Filled with Activities

The Dartmouth Energy Alliance, a club focused on the myriad ways Dartmouth undergraduates can engage with and explore potential career paths in energy, held its first meeting of fall term on Tuesday, September 21. The more than two dozen students in attendance learned about the club's plans for the fall and about opportunities to engage with the Irving Institute from Institute Academic Director Amanda Graham.

Among the fall plans are a bi-weekly book group where students will read and discuss Bill Gates' recent book How to Avoid a Climate Disaster. Other opportunities will include participating in the MIT Energy Hackathon and the International Student Energy Summit a virtual conference that connects energy-focused students from around the world.

"The club acts as a primer for students excited about energy as an industry and an academic concept, whether they are experts or just first learning about it," says Nate Roe '23, DEA co-president. "The club is growing quickly and hopefully will continue to spur student interest in energy."

Co-president Max Holden '22 expressed his enthusiasm for the new academic year, saying, "I am ecstatic to continue leading the Dartmouth Energy Alliance which creates the space and support to help students delve into the challenges and opportunities of the clean energy space today in order to become future leaders for tomorrow."
