Undergraduate Education and Internship Coordinator

The Undergraduate Education and Internship Coordinator for the Irving Institute develops and implements a range of undergraduate programming in energy and society and will play a central role in coordinating external internships for students. Institute education programs include experiential learning and cohort-building activities, new and adapted courses, career development support, mini-grant funding, and student mentorship. This position reports to the Irving Institute Academic Director.

Student Communications Intern

The Irving Institute Communications Intern will assist the Institute staff with the development and distribution of Institute news, stories, events publicity, and other materials and will assist the Communications Manager with administrative and organizational tasks. This position can be done remotely and while the work is deadline-driven, the hours are flexible.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with keeping website content updated
  • Assisting with events and programs publicity (ie, flyering, developing and posting relevant content on events calendars, campus and other listservs, identifying audiences and areas where we can expand our reach)
  • Assisting with drafting profiles, articles, and other content for the Institute website and newsletter
  • Drafting weekly events roundup posting for DEC Listserv Managing the Institute website "Opportunities" list
  • Helping organize the Institute photo and video library

Required Skills

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage your time well and meet deadlines
  • Preferred Skills
  • Experience with web content management tools
  • Experience with photo and video editing tools
  • Experience with graphic design

Student Social Media Intern

The Irving Institute Social Media Intern will help the Institute expand its reach, raise its visibility, and enhance social media engagement with a particular focus on Dartmouth student audiences by developing and deploying social content. This position can be done remotely and while the work is deadline-driven, the hours are flexible.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing social content and campaigns (including text, video, and graphic design) that raise the Institute's profile particularly with current and prospective students
  • Assisting the Communications Manager with content calendar management
  • Tracking and analyzing social media engagement and impact
  • Responding to data gained from this analysis
  • Advising Institute staff on best practices in social media and potentials for growth in the social space

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of different social media platforms and approaches
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
  • Graphic design experience
  • Photo editing skills
  • Basic videography/video editing skills
