Arts and Sciences Converge in Hopkins Center for the Arts Symposium

Over the course of two days in February, more than 300 people from Dartmouth and around the world explored the ways that arts and sciences, in tandem, can help catalyze solutions to big challenges. Scholars and students joined artists and activists to discuss new projects at the intersections of art, science, and activism, while energizing presentations focused on strategies for interdisciplinary communication and collaboration in our classrooms and communities.

The event was co-sponsored by the Irving Institute and included remarks by Institute Director Elizabeth Wilson as well as presentations by Institute affiliates Laura Ogden (Anthropology), Chad Elias (Art History) and Vicki May (Thayer), as well as by students working on a Tiny House project for which Institute Research Director Stephen Doig is advisor.

Full video of the two days is available here, and you can also jump directly to an individual presentation through the links in the YouTube description or in the schedule on the symposium website.
