Dartmouth's team, led by Alexander Gottlieb and senior author Justin Mankin, identified a significant reduction in March snow water equivalent, noting declines of 10% to 20% per decade in affected areas.

This testimony supports the proposed Climate Superfund Act, or S.259, which aims to make large oil companies financially accountable for the climate change impacts they've caused, particularly in Vermont.
[more]Professor Ogden's ethnographic research, which spans from the Florida Everglades to Tierra del Fuego and urban U.S. settings, focuses on the interplay between environmental change, conservation efforts, and colonialism. The Guggenheim fellowship will support her ongoing project, "The Book of Birds: A Memoir of Extinction," which investigates the complex ethical and ecological dimensions of the California condor recovery efforts, amidst challenges like wildfires and avian flu. Ogden's work, which blends detailed environmental narratives with a commitment to the humanities, exemplifies the interdisciplinary approach championed by the Irving Institute. Her scholarship not only contributes to understanding critical environmental issues but also enriches the academic and creative community at Dartmouth.
