Irving Institute Appoints Giulia Siccardo '12 as Distinguished Industry Fellow

The Irving Institute is thrilled to announce the appointment of Giulia Siccardo '12 as a Distinguished Industry Fellow. Her cross-sector experience and interdisciplinary expertise promise to play a vital role in advancing the Institute's programs across research and translation, education, and engagement.

Giulia brings a deep expertise from her previous role as the Director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains (MESC). In this position, she was responsible for awarding tens of billions of dollars in government investments aimed at enhancing U.S. manufacturing capabilities and workforce development. Her work encompassed critical energy technologies, including batteries, hydrogen, heat pumps, and solar energy, positioning her at the forefront of the United States' energy transition.

Siccardo's leadership was instrumental in launching the Mapping, Modeling, and Analysis Consortium (MMAC), a strategic partnership with the Department of Energy's National Labs. This initiative supported energy supply chain analysis and national security efforts, showcasing her capability to bridge governmental, industrial, and research sectors.

Before her governmental service, Giulia was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, where she led initiatives in Green Growth. With a focus on scaling low-carbon systems for both large corporations and innovative start-ups, she significantly contributed to the development of zero-emission energy solutions and vehicles. Moreover, her co-founding of Frontier, a $1B+ commitment aimed at accelerating carbon dioxide removal technologies, underscores her dedication to sustainability.

Giulia holds a dual B.A. in Economics and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. The Irving Institute is excited to leverage her insights and leadership as it further strengthens its multidisciplinary community of researchers, experts, and citizens who are mobilizing to take on the most critical issues related to our energy systems and their impacts on society.
