Is 1.5 C an Impossible Target?

The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a massive drop in carbon output around the globe over the first half of 2020. What does this mean for the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change identified target of reducing emissions 7.6% per year to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 C? In a June 5, 2020 article from Energy and Environment News, reporter Benjamin Storrow asks a number of climate experts, including Irving Institute Director and Environmental Studies Professor Elizabeth Wilson, about the likelihood of achieving this target.
