Biography
Dr. Boyoon Chang is the Julie J. Levenson '84 and Paul A. Pittman P'25 Fellow at Dartmouth's Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society. She collaborates with Professor Geoffrey Parker on the economics of digital platforms and data. She studies how platforms, data-sharing arrangements, and emerging technologies transform competition and organizational design, and how firms and consumers respond. Her research spans conceptual theory building, game-theoretic modeling, and causal inference from both experimental and observational data. This research bears directly on the energy transition, as distributed resources and digital intermediaries raise new questions about pricing, market power, and control of the data that coordinates platform-based energy markets.
With training in business and economics and two years of experience in the legal sector, she brings an interdisciplinary perspective to the study of markets. Her legal background informs her focus on how regulation, contracts, and institutional rules shape firm behavior and market outcomes. By connecting research with industry and policy challenges, she seeks to inform platform strategy and competition across sectors while advancing a reliable and sustainable energy future.
