As the Senior Associate Director, Angie Hofmann works to identify, coordinate, and supervise novel opportunities for research support in the engineering, environmental, chemical/physical and related disciplines and in areas of interest to the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society and to GrantGPS. Angie also advises administrative leadership on strategic initiatives in these fields. In her role, she aims to align Dartmouth's needs with the funding interests of donors to advance university priorities in education, scholarship, and research.
Prior to her new position, Angie was Senior Associate Director and Interim Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations at Dartmouth, where she was responsible for fundraising and establishing and managing relationships with national and international corporations and foundations. Before joining Dartmouth in 2021, Angie was the Strategic Projects and Communications Advisor to Yale University's Vice Provost for Research, supporting science priorities across Yale University from 2018 to 2021. Prior to that, Angie worked as Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Science and International Initiatives, in Yale's Office of Development where she managed some of Yale's top prospects and played a key role in fundraising from leading international corporations and foundations.
Angie holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of California, Irvine, and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Genetics in Berlin, Germany. She is the founder of SciWri Services, a venture providing editing, training, and consulting services on scientific communication worldwide, and the author of two books that are standards in the field: Scientific Writing and Communication – Papers, Proposals, and Presentation and Writing in the Biological Sciences (Oxford University Press.)
