Amanda C. Graham

Academic Director

Amanda Graham, PhD is Academic Director for the Irving Institute.  In this role, her priorities are to engage all members of the Dartmouth community, to expand understanding of the fundamental roles energy systems play in society, and to partner with students, faculty, and alumni to evolve those systems toward a more just and sustainable world.  Amanda comes to Dartmouth with 17 years of experience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  She most recently served as Executive Director of MIT's new Environmental Solutions Initiative (ESI), where she co-led the unit's expansion, shaping its research and education priorities and crafting diverse programs.  Prior to ESI, she served as Education Director for the Energy Initiative (MITEI) and its predecessor, the Laboratory for Energy and the Environment (LFEE).  In these positions she led the development of multidisciplinary curricula and co-curricula in energy studies and environment and sustainability, including undergraduate minors, programs for first-year and graduate students, and intensive educational experiences with international students.  Amanda serves on the Scientific Committee of the 8th Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) and is an active member of the Energy Education Community of Practice at the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE).
