Pan-American Ocean Energy Student Network

The Pan-American Ocean Energy Students (POES) network is  a volunteer association that serves as a platform for different student organizations from Pan-American countries primarily, but also from around the world. POES was founded through the joint initiatives of CEMIE--Océano and PAMEC.Energy Association to incentivize collaboration and sharing of information about marine energy among students and young researchers. Currently, POES is managed by student-run organizations, such as the CEMIE-Océano student committee and a marine-coastal research network in Colombia, known by its abbreviation in Spanish REMARCO.

The mission of POES is to promote, incentivize, and advance the harnessing and sustainable use of ocean energies, such as wave, tidal current, salinity gradient, and thermal gradient. Moreover, POES aims to construct a multidisciplinary platform, created by, and for, students and young researchers, to establish synergy between ocean energy and other interdisciplinary fields. In turn, this will help promote conversations where knowledge is shared and fostered for the future use of ocean energy in the Pan-American region.

Dartmouth students are invited to learn more about this organization and how to get involved!
