The mission of the New Energy Summit is to increase the capacity of early-stage energy and climate researchers to accelerate transitions to equitable and sustainable energy systems and a healthy climate via interdisciplinary scholarship and collaboration.

The summit is designed to achieve this mission by:

  • Convening an increasingly global cohort of scholars from a wide range of disciplines in an intimate New England setting for structured and unstructured creative exchange and peer-to-peer networking;
  • Enhancing critical skills for multi/interdisciplinary collaboration and scholarship such as communication, and research proposal and publication workshopping;
  • Connecting scholars with senior faculty and practitioners for career advising, mentorship, and networking; and
  • Cultivating the "New Energy Network" of summit alumni for increased exchange of ideas and opportunities.

The inaugural summit, in 2022, and our 2023 summit hosted a total of 39 researchers from 29 universities inside and outside the US for three days of lightning talks, breakout groups, lectures, workshops, and networking. The 2024 New Energy Summer Summit will sustain the event's characteristic intimacy among a  multidisciplinary cohort of early-career peers, while expanding opportunities for professional development and mentorship from senior scholars and practitioners.
