[more]The next installment of the Dartmouth Energy Collabortive's bi-weekly energy lunch series takes place Thursday, January 23 at 12:15 p.m. with Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth Professor Ian Baker giving a talk on his Irving Institute Seed Grant funded research project, "High-Performance Nickel-Iron (NiFE) Permanent Magnetics for Electric Motors and Turbines." Demand for high-performance permanent magnets for motors is increasing rapidly for applications such as wind turbine generators and motors in electric and hybrid cars.
[more]In fall 2019, the Dartmouth Energy Alliance (DEA) was recognized as an official Dartmouth student organization. The three leaders of the 2019-2020 academic year (Caroline Goggins '20, Joe Hall '20, and Max Holden '22) picked up from work done last spring and over the summer and have shaped the club to fit what they believe the Dartmouth undergraduate student body needs in terms of the field of energy.
[more]In June 2019, graduate student Katie Anderson was able to participate in an ice core drilling project in Alaska's Denali National Park, thanks in part to mini-grant support from the Irving Institute.
