Join Us in Hanover for the Second Annual New Energy Summer Summit

The Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society is excited to announce the second annual New Energy Summer Summit. The Summit brings early career energy researchers and scholars to the Dartmouth College campus in Hanover, NH, to help expand connections and collaborations among PhD students, postdocs, and assistant professors working across the energy and climate space.

The idea for the Summit grew out of the New Energy speaker series, which was launched by the Irving Institute in spring 2020 to provide a platform for advanced PhD students, postdocs, and assistant professors to share their emerging work in energy and society during a time when travel was challenging. The inaugural Summit, in 2022, hosted 20 researchers from 17 institutions from around the world for three days of lightning talks, breakout groups, lectures, workshops, and networking. 

New Colleagues, New Ideas, and New Networks

The New Energy Summer Summit provides a unique opportunity for early-career scholars working in energy and climate across the disciplines to meet colleagues from other institutions across the globe. Through breakout sessions, lightning talks, networking meals, and other activities, the Summit will give you the opportunity to:

  • Share your own research and interest areas
  • Learn about your peers' work
  • Identify shared and complementary areas of expertise among peers
  • Brainstorm and develop new projects and avenues of inquiry
  • Meet Dartmouth faculty experts and learn how Dartmouth scholars are approaching energy and climate
  • Explore the Irving Institute's beautiful, new highly energy efficient building, a living laboratory for energy and climate research, teaching, and learning
  • Enjoy the Upper Valley of New Hampshire in all of its summer glory!

Apply

Early-career scholars focused on topics in energy, climate and society, and who are at the level of advanced PhD student, postdoc, or assistant professor may apply. All disciplines — social science, humanities, engineering, natural science, medicine, business, and others — are welcome and encouraged to apply. Funding support may be available for selected applicants.
